3rd - 28th February Update

Gadeok

Ah Gadeok, I was not expecting it to capture my heart the way it did. From the energy and love I was greeted with from the rising DTS, who I joined for 3 days, to the care I received from the YWAM Gadeok staff and their heart for worship and intercession, to the warmth I receive just from greeting the locals…

    • A heart of worship. This base, both the rising DTS and the staff have such a heart for worship, that really blessed my heart . At this time my head was so full of distractions and to be able to worship so often with others unto God helped me so much.

    • I pray that their heart to serve God and surrender all at His feet continually grows stronger and that God will strengthen them as they honour Him.

    • Most Holy Worship. This is something they do once a month for 12hours. My friend asked me to join her for an hour session of worship on the day and so despite the discomfort I said yes. I’m so glad I did, it was not perfect, but it came from hour hearts and that’s what He asks for.

    • Our hour slot starts from 8 hours in.

    • “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.”

      ‭‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  • While being in Gadeok God started to speak to me oh so quietly, like a warm breath in the wind.

It was through this quiet voice He guided me to a conversation that bought about freedom from the last thing in my past that had weighed me down. A conversation which I thought I would never have to start, but one which He caused to release me finally and show just how much God loved the other person.. He is so faithful.

Family please, even if it makes you uncomfortable, in fact ESPECIALLY when it makes you uncomfortable, just follow Him. The outcome, the obedience is far greater than staying in disobedience…

  • God amplified certain scriptures during this time. I believe this is the moulding, a refining work God did with me…

    • “rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.”

      ‭‭I Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

    • ““For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.”

      ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

    • “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”

      ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

    • “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.”

      ‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭27‬-‭28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

    • “But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.””

      ‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Sisters

A friendship that was made stronger and a new one that was formed. I love these two so much. We prayed together, laughed together, danced together and cried together. Lord thank you for my two beautiful sisters in Christ. Continue to be with them Father, as they get ready to staff a DTS for 6 months, cover and protect them Lord.

Joyful Camp

Arriving at camp…

The staff arrived 2 days before the young people, to pray together, worship together and do the final prep work before the start of camp.

What a special time. During one session the core leadership team came up to the front and shared all their desires about the camp and then said God this is our alabaster box, we break it before you now and ask for Your will alone… through tears they bowed down before God and surrendered all to Him.

What a humbling moment. It lead us all into a time of repentance, surrender and deep worship. The humility of this leadership team is something I believe will continue to encourage and challenge my heart in life. It released the rest of us to do the same, what a beautiful example.

Welcoming time…

The time had come, it was time to welcome the students. After receiving God’s heart for the camp and what He would give the young people, the joy we felt as we watched them come in shy or nervous and leave filled with His Spirit and fire was truly amazing.

Worship & Lectures

Worship and the lectures were the core sessions of each day, happening both in the morning before lunch and the after dinner. Some times of worship lasted over 2 hours and likewise for the lectures. God had so much to give and release. Each day, each lecture theme building on from the other.

For all those who served in worship, teaching, translating and tech team, I pray God’s increase in their life. His protection as they served His children with their whole heart and for new strength in Him, in the name of Jesus amen. Lord bless the works of their hands and increase the fruits of their labour, so more can enjoy and receive.

Games & Outreach

For two days the young people had two different activities, everyone doing each activity on different days. On the first day my group played games, which was hilarious and I think was when I started to loose my voice haha.

The second day we went out into Gyeongju town and did evangelism. I was on the busking team. It was so encouraging to watch the young people conquer shyness to speak to people and sing God’s praises, while surrounded by Buddhist temples.

Before we went out we all prayed and asked God to show us something for when we were out. One thing He showed me was stripes… the last group we spoke to were 3 Aunties. The leader shared who we were, the young people sang a song of blessing over them and then the gospel was shared. One lady received Jesus that day and then the other females of the group laid hands on her as she prayed the believers prayer. Later on a girl came over to us and said that lady who prayed had a stripped top on. Family God is good and had marked her as His own long before we knew her! That day she said yes to Him, praise God!!!

Small groups

Due to some of the staff not being fluent in Korean, the staff also had 2 English speaking small groups. This is my small group on the last night eating chicken, very late haha. Very grateful for this community!

Personal breakthrough…

Before travelling God sat me down and told me that shyness was not something He had ever given me, nor was it a ‘thorn’, it was simply something I just needed to let go.. On these journeys with God I have been able to practice letting go. The bigger test came when I was once again asked if I would help with worship for one session, but this time with over 200 hundred people, not the intimate setting of Gadeok base…

Please pray that I continue to let go of all those things that have in the past prevented me from following God with my whole life.

After joyful camp the plan was to go straight back to Seoul, but I felt undecided. I was taught that if you don’t know what to do, send still and so I went back to Gadeok for 6 days, to hear God clearly.

Here is what He said…

  • As I looked out at the view God grew my heart for Gadeok. He grew my heart for the locals and serving this YWAM base.

  • A moment to sit and appreciate friendship.

  • Due to the base taking a break after camp, not many people were left in Gadeok, but I was not left alone. It was a week of laughter, discovering new places and fellowship with these two

  • “This is home for a while. This is where I am calling you, here at the church you visited in the city. Evangelism when you are in the city and serve Gadeok base and the locals”. - from your Heavenly Father x x x

Please pray for…

… me. It is my last month in Korea, please pray that I walk and go as God and God alone leads.

… the young people, that as they have left the camp God will continue to grow the fire He has placed in them. That they will not be ashamed, but testify to all and speak of the Father’s goodness.

… Gadeok and the YWAM base. Pray that it will continue to grow even more into a place where people come and grow in deep discipleship with God.

… the rising DTS. They are currently finishing their staff training in Cambodia, before they go to Hawaii to greet the students for the 6 month DTS. Please pray for physical, mental and emotional strength as this is a very busy 9 months for them. Pray that God will give them supernatural rest.

… group culture in Korea to change. Pray that those who feel isolated will meet and make strong and lasting Godly friendships.

… the Christians in Korea who have been lied to by the enemy that tarot card reading is okay. Please pray that the veil will be removed and every other lie being used to deceive people will be shattered. Please pray that things from society that has made its way into church here will be broken and that people will once again be able to feel the warmth and love of God as they come to church, free from judgement.
