Intimacy 2 Impact

Our I2I DTS lecture phase finished after 2 and a half months of weekly lectures, one on ones, small groups, book reports, school visits, local outreach… our students worked hard. It truly was a blessing to see them begin to connect with God in ways they never even expected.

YWAM Gadeok & I2I DTS

YWAM is short for Youth With a Mission. It is a Christian organisation where young people are trained and are then sent out into the world to share the Gospel, worldwide. We are a YWAM base in Gadeok, a small island near Busan, South Korea. For 3 months we focused on growing deeper in intimacy with God and then we went out to the nations for two months to impact others with the intimacy we found in Him.

The Students

Worship & Intersession

Coming to God and declaring who He is and receiving and partnering with Him in prayer, are two very integral parts of the YWAM Gadeok base, but especially the DTS. We worshipped 3 times a week and interceded twice a week each morning before we started the day.

Local outreach & school visits…

School visits

YWAM is about knowing Christ and making Him known and even though the students were still in their ‘knowing Christ phase’ we still had opportunity to make Him known in small doses through school visits.

Simply going and having fellowship with high schoolers, playing games, having worship, eating snacks and separating into small groups. As well as having the opportunity to go and serve a local nursery with deep cleaning and playing with the children.

Local Outreach

Before the students and DTS started, in the summer the staff team reached out to different YWAM Korea bases around the country and went and visited them. Forming connections and relationships with a week of travelling and visiting 4 different bases.

During the DTS with the students we were able to go back to two other these bases, Pyeong-tek and Cheong-ju. We worshiped and fellowshipped with them, but also has the opportunity to do some campus ministry and evangelism at both places. It was an amazing time of not just fellowshipping, but also starting to put into practice all that both staff and students had been learning throughout the different lectures.

We finished this week with the rest of the Gadeok staff coming up to Cheongju to join the base in our Most Holy place worship, which we have in Gadeok once a month for 12 hours.

What a joy it was to be able to worship with our family in Christ!

Make Him Known

Ooooooooo it’s outreach time. Now it was time for them to go out and make Him known for 2 and a half months. God instructed us to split into two different teams, giving us a vision of waves coming back and forth from Korea to Japan and to China and surrounding countries. We had two teams one called ‘Fire of Adullam’ (my team woohoooo) and one called ‘New U’. After some time in prayer as a staff team, we felt as though God wanted us to start outreach in the same location and then ‘Fire of Adullam’ would go north of the Rykyuu islands up to mainland Japan’s and ‘New U’ would go south and end in Taiwan.

This is exactly what we did and here is how it went…

A student from each team shot and edited these videos, please enjoy!

While I am working on a detailed report of our time during outreach, what I can say is what a privilege. Honestly, it was such a humbling experience being able to be one of the first to tell others about Jesus. We prayed with others, experienced healing, people drawing closer to God and others becoming more interested in Christ. We ministered through songs and dances, skits, sharing the Gospel, worship, testimonies, small groups, food, English classes, Bible classes, events, evangelism, prayer walks, cleaning and much more. Truly humbling and the tears of joy we shed when one of the teenagers decided to receive Jesus into her life.

Please continue to pray for Japan, it is an unreached nation, but one that is hungry for God.
